Cole Palmer reveals surprising things about Wayne Rooney
Chelsea star Cole Palmer has revealed that Wayne Rooney was one of the names he tried to emulate as a child.
If you recognise Wayne Rooney in Cole Palme, it's because the Chelsea and England star tried to emulate the Manchester United legend as a kid. Palmer has gone from being an underrated player to one of the Premier League's best since the start of last season.

His move from Man City to Chelsea may have seemed risky, but it has paid off for him personally after an impressive run of form with the Blues. The 22-year-old scored 25 goals in his first season in west London, and has already netted seven this term.
Palmer may not be a striker, but he has a great eye for goal and that's partly because he learned from one of the Premier League's greatest goalscorers. The Blues star grew up as a Manchester United fan, always trying to emulate Wayne Rooney's goals after watching the England legend score for the Red Devils.
“If he scores at the weekend, I’ll go out and see if I can do it,” Palmer told The Telegraph. “He was one of the guys I watched a lot as a kid, and I have to admit I copied him a lot.”
Palmer's links to United extend beyond his admiration for Rooney, with David Beckham reportedly contacting him last year. "Beckham texted me," he said. "I scored a goal one day and he was in my DMs."
When asked if he watched Beckham play for United, Palmer replied: " Not really. I was quite young at the time."
