English Premier League good news: Consider playing again this weekend, do not postpone because of the Queen's funeral

The Premier League can resume as soon as this weekend instead of being postponed because of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Britain is in a period of national mourning and the queen's funeral is expected to be held on Monday, September 19. After the Queen's death, the Premier League decided to postpone the last weekend's round to pay respect to the Queen and the British royal family.

However, this has caused certain objections from the public, arguing that the postponement of the match is unnecessary. Besides, with the English Premier League schedule already thick because the World Cup is held at the end of the year, postponements like this will only increase the burden on the organizers and the clubs.


The decision to postpone the matches was made by the organizers, not the government, perhaps because government officials understood that they might lose points in the eyes of the public, so they pushed it to the Premier League and FA "self-dealing". But that's why Sky Sports recently said that the postponement of football matches in England may only take place over the weekend.

This sports news channel reports that a poll of public opinion has come to a decision from the government that they will not force if the FA and Premier League allow matches to be played this week, in which football matches at The lower leagues will be held in the middle of the week. Premier League matches will be played over the weekend and no worries will be canceled, because no match will be left over on Monday, which is the day of the funeral.


Currently, matches in the Championship, League One and lower divisions have been agreed to play on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while a decision on the Premier League is still pending. Sky Sports said it was still possible that Premier League matches, if held in London on Sunday, would be postponed, because the city's police force would have to focus on ensuring security for the next day's funeral. If so, there will be 2 Brentford - Arsenal and Chelsea - Liverpool matches that fall into that category.

Meanwhile, English clubs are confirmed to still play European cup matches as usual because UEFA cannot reschedule.

Plot twist: United will go for Frenkie de Jong after Casemiro
