English Premier League adds new rules
Premier League matches round 2 this weekend will have a short break for players to drink water, when the UK experiences hot weather.
Clubs expressed concern to tournament organizers on Wednesday (August 10) when temperatures could reach 33 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.
According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League has given the green light for teams to have 1 minute of cooling break at each half to reduce the risk of injury in the busy schedule.
In fact, in the match between West Ham vs Man City and MU vs Brighton in the first round of the 2022/23 Premier League took place last weekend, the players were given a break to drink water in the context of hot weather.
In the 2019/20 season, a cooling break has become mandatory at every half after the season was interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, in the 2020/21 season starting in September, the cooling break has been eliminated.

Currently, clubs must contact the Premier League organizers to ask for permission as well as provide evidence that the temperature is high enough for players to rest and drink water. Fortunately, this was approved.
However, the cooling break is only applied in the Premier League instead of the Championship (England's first division). Details of the plan were again sent to clubs on Wednesday afternoon.
